Wandeling van het Boothuis naar het Van Eesteren Paviljoen

Er zijn twee mogelijkheden:

  1. Start bij het Boothuis:
    Loop naar de brug die het eiland met het vasteland verbindt. Steek de brug over en ga rechtdoor.

  2. Loop zonder langs het Boothuis te gaan:
    Ga rechtsaf bij de brug en laat het Boothuis links op het eiland liggen.

Je nadert nu het Colenbranderhof:


maar je gaat daar niet naartoe en slaat ervoor na 80 meter links af. Je loopt nu op het Christoffel Plantijnpad.

Bekijk de dikte van de bomen die rechts in het gras staan. In de 60-er jaren waren deze bomen de doelpalen in ons voetbalstadion. Ze hadden toen ook de dikte van doelpalen. Het gras werd voor ons gemaaid en er lag nooit zwerfvuil in het gras.

Maaien over zwerfvuil is een belangrijk aandachtspunt in Amsterdam Nieuw-West. Wanneer afval in grasgebieden blijft liggen en eroverheen wordt gemaaid, valt het uiteen in talloze kleinere stukjes, wat het opruimen bemoeilijkt en de vervuiling verergert. VuilnisOproer Nieuw-West pakt dit probleem actief aan door samen te werken met de gemeente en maaiaannemers om ervoor te zorgen dat zwerfvuil wordt verwijderd voordat er gemaaid wordt: .

Je gaat pas linksaf zodra er een voet- en fietspad direct naast elkaar liggen en je dit ziet:

Walk from the Boothuis to the Van Eesteren Paviljoen

There are two possibilities:

  1. Starting at Boothuis:
    To begin, walk towards the bridge that connects the island to the mainland. Cross the bridge and continue straight ahead.

  2. Bypassing Boothuis:
    If you prefer not to pass by Boothuis, head right at the bridge, leaving Boothuis on the island to your left.

Proceeding along this path, you'll soon approach Colenbranderhof:


However, you don't go there; instead, after 80 meters, turn left onto the Christoffel Plantijnpad.

Observe the thickness of the trees standing on the right in the grass. In the 1960s, these trees served as the goalposts in our football stadium, and back then, they were as thin as actual goalposts. The grass was mowed for us, and there was never any litter in it.

Mowing over litter is a significant concern in Amsterdam Nieuw-West. When trash is left in grassy areas and mowed over, it fragments into numerous smaller pieces, complicating cleanup efforts and exacerbating pollution. VuilnisOproer Nieuw-West is actively addressing this issue by collaborating with the municipality and mowing contractors to ensure litter is removed before mowing occurs: .

You should only turn left when a pedestrian path and a bicycle path are directly adjacent to each other and you see this:
